Books books books!

Have I mentioned that I love to read?? Have I mentioned that I’m part of a book club that meets once a month at various locations to talk about what we’ve read?

So right now I’m reading Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford. Though my book club read this a while back, before I joined, I’m reading on my own. I think I’m over half way through and so far it’s pretty interesting. The story is about a Chinese American named Henry, but every few chapters switches between him in his childhood to him in 1980 something, all set in Seattle, Washington. Right now I recommend others read this (but if I get to the end and don’t like it, I’m going to un-recommend it).

For March’s book club our host has decided she would like us all to read and discuss Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. It was named Best Books of the Year in 2012 by Amazon’s editors. I;m not sure if I’m going to like it; it shifts from one character’s voice to another and there’s some other reason I don’t really care for it, though right now I couldn’t tell you the reason. On a good note, the main characters are Amy and Nick! Points earned for coolness!

I also have sitting on my nightstand a copy of Baby Proof by Emily Giffin, author of Something Borrowed (movie version stars Gennifer Goodwin and Kate Hudson). I read Something Borrowed and the second book Something Blue and tend to try and find books by authors I already know to read when I don’t have any other recommendations to fall back on.

Maybe I should start following Oprah’s book club recs? Nah, I’ll stick with my random way of picking for now…
